TROPICAL BLOOD - LUVJONEZ & BRYVOX
Tropical Blood is a collaborative instrumental EP from Portland music producers Luvjonez and Bryvox, blending hip hop, Latin percussion elements from bomba, reggaetón, and dembow, to downtempo electronica, hazy synths, and global island rhythms into what the artists call LOFI REGGAETÓN.
Built from drum machines, analog production, live instruments, melodic textures, hypnotic and lush electronica, and slinky basslines, the EP moves between late-night headphone listening and slow-motion dance-floor energy, with equal parts nostalgia and futurism.
Rooted in the artists’ ancestral connections to Borikén/Puerto Rico and the Philippines, Tropical Blood sonically explores themes of migration, memory, identity, and the enduring power of island rhythms that they call "DNA tingles". This project reflects the DIY spirit of underground beat culture, creating an unexplored body of work from both artists, that traces a musical lineage from tiny ancestral islands to the global sounds of today.
Created entirely in Portland, Oregon, Tropical Blood is a deeply personal collaboration that brings two distinct musical worlds together through rhythm, experimentation, and a shared love of collaboration and experimentation.
