Luvjonez (Jonas Angelet) is a Puerto Rican music producer, DJ, and community arts organizer based in Portland, Oregon. Rooted in hip hop, reggaetón, and electronic sounds, his work blends instrumental, rhythm-driven production, downtempo introspective vibes with cultural storytelling, honoring his heritage while pushing sonic boundaries across genres. Beyond the music studio, he is committed to building community through music, creating platforms and opportunities that spotlight underrepresented voices and bring artists and community together across genres and generations.
He is the founder and co-host of A Beat Happening, a free all-ages monthly producer and DJ showcase that centers all-ages, all skill-levels, multi-genre artists and provides an inclusive space for experimentation and collaboration. Through partnerships with arts organizations, nonprofits, and local creatives, Luvjonez continues to shape Portland’s cultural landscape by curating events, producing albums, and mentoring emerging talent.
With over a decade of experience, his artistry and leadership intersect—balancing musical innovation and collaborations in sound with a dedication to community empowerment. Whether on stage, behind the decks, or organizing in the background, Luvjonez champions music as both an artistic practice and a tool for connection, equity, and joy.
This project will produce a 5-song EP recorded at Ext.606 Studio in Portland, OR, where I will collaborate with local multi-genre musician Pierre Carbuccia to layer live keys, bass, and percussion over my self-produced hip hop instrumental beats. The sessions will combine structured tracks with improvisational elements, creating a textured sound that merges sample-based production with organic performance and expands on demos we've created over the last four years. By working directly with Portland musicians, the project merges connections across genres and showcases the creative possibilities of live collaboration in hip hop and reggaeton rhythms. At completion, I will have a polished EP ready for digital release, professionally recorded in Portland with both full and instrumental versions, expanding opportunities for future performances and DJ use. The project will not only document a unique collaborative process between Puerto Rican and Dominican artists but also serve as a foundation for future live shows, highlighting fellow Portland artists and strengthening relationships within the Portland hip hop community.

This Tropical Blood EP project will be a pivotal step in my growth as a producer and performing artist. By recording a 5-song EP with live instrumentation in collaboration with Pierre Carbuccia, I will be able to complete the vision of expanding my sound beyond sample-based hip hop into a fuller, more collaborative, multi-genre production style that blends electronic, reggaeton, and bedroom pop, and instrumental hip hop. Working in a professional studio like EXT.606 with will sharpen my technical skills in tracking, arranging, and directing live musicians while giving me experience managing a complete studio project from concept to release with a trained recording engineer. The resulting EP will serve as a high-quality, distributable body of work to showcase to venues, collaborators, and future fans, positioning me for larger performance opportunities, more tours and cross-genre collaborations. It will also deepen my artistic range and stage show by merging beatmaking with live performance, giving me a stronger foundation for future live shows that highlight both my production and collaborative live performance work. Ultimately, this project will elevate and expand my career by producing a professional, market-ready collaborative release that grows my audience, strengthens my credibility in Portland’s music community, and establishes momentum for touring, festivals, and cross-genre future recordings.
